Inspired by my son Evan, The Second Story Project is about more than dollhouses — it’s about creating something deeply meaningful for someone who deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

I rescue large, solid-wood vintage dollhouses — the kind that were once loved but have since been forgotten. With time, care, and creativity, I completely renovate each one by hand. Every house gets a full custom makeover, a unique theme, and thoughtful details in every room.

When finished, they’re not just miniature homes — they’re gifts of joy, imagination, and comfort, created especially for teens and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Every (doll)house has a story. This is their second one.

How It Works

Acquire

I search for large, solid-wood vintage dollhouses that have been forgotten or left behind — the kind built to last, but in need of love.

Renovate

Each house is stripped down, repaired, and renovated with a unique theme and custom details. Every room is completely styled and decorated.

Gift

Once complete, the house is gifted to a teen or adult with an intellectual disability — someone who deserves a little magic made just for them.

Who Can Be Nominated

The Second Story Project is currently open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 13 years or older

  • Must reside in the state of Florida

  • Must have an intellectual disability

  • Must have enough space to accommodate an extra-large dollhouse (average size: 48” wide x 36” deep x 36” tall)

Nominations are open for 3 weeks each time a new dollhouse is complete and ready to be gifted. Each nomination round is specific to that individual house. If you are not selected, you are welcome to reapply when the next house becomes available.

You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Be sure to sign up for emails to be notified when a new house is finished and nominations open again.

I personally review every nomination and thoughtfully select the recipient for each house based on fit, timing, and availability. My goal is to make sure every home finds the person it was meant for.

Submit a Nomination

Know someone who would love a one-of-a-kind dollhouse?

Whether it’s for yourself, a friend, or a loved one — I’d love to hear their story. The nomination form is only available when a dollhouse is ready to be gifted, so please be sure the person you're nominating meets the eligibility criteria before applying.
